I have been spending a lot of time on Pinterest these days searching out ideas for cards, scrapbooking pages, recipies, photography, baby clothes; you name it and they've got it. I am so in love with this sight that it has become an addiction, just like Facebook. How many of you have caught on to this latest rage? Well, anyway, Valentine cards have surfaced and one style in particular is the overstuffed envelope spilling out hearts, lots of hearts. A few years ago, I bought a Sizzix Scallop Envelop die but have never used it. Finally I got my chance and am so happy with it. The Valentine paper is from Martha Stewart as is the ribbon and felt heart.

Monkey Diaper Cake

There must be something in the water; so many babies are being born into my family. I made this diaper cake for my niece Miranda. I love the monkey theme that is so popular now. It made it easy for me to find items to put on the cake.

Christmas Love

Every year, it never fails, Bill lets me know that I need to make more cards. Somebody new just sent us a card and we must reciprocate. My job is to make them and his is to send them. And, every year I am exhausted from making them and my craft rooms remains a mess. I am sure you know the feeling. Tonight when I was informed that I need more cards, lots more, I whipped out these cards in no time flat. I used one of my favorite stamps from CTMH called "Christmas Love" and the "Believe" paper pack. To add a little whimsy, I attached little bells, that I picked up at the craft store, with bakers twine. To give my cards a little sparkle I added Glitz Silver Glitter Gel around the banner and Candy Cane Stickles to the holly berries. I hope you are having fun with your cards.

I have been busy making Christmas cards and before I send these ones off, I thought that I has better take a picture. These are 3 of my favorites. The stamps are from LaLa Land Crafts. I have had so much fun coloring these images. There is so much time that goes into coloring and making a card, that it becomes more than just a card but a gift. I love making homemade cards. It brings me so much joy.

Glory To God

I have been working on my Christmas Cards over the past few weeks and one of my challenges has been with this stamp set from Close to My Heart called "Glory to God." I love this set and have been trying to come up with a way of really making it stand. Finally, after much thought I am happy with the result. I used my Cricut and the Art Philosophy cartridge to cut out the ornament. I stamped the wise men and city with pigment ink and embossed them with gold embossing powder. The paper that I used is called "Sonoma," also from CTMH.

Baby Girl Diaper Cake

My Daughter, Jennifer, is having a baby in February and yesterday was her baby shower. For her gift, I made her this diaper cake. They are really not that difficult to make. This cake has 3 tiers and is made using about 72 new born diapers. Each diaper is rolled inward so that the design on the diaper shows, and is secured with a tiny rubber band, the kind that you find in the hair section of your store. For the center, I used a paper towel roll that had about 1/4 roll of paper towels on it. It made for a nice firm base. Once all of the diapers are rolled, take a large rubber band and put it around the paper towel roll and start inserting diapers within the rubber band until they are all around the roll. This is your first layer. Add a second rubber band around the diapers and make your second layer. Take a third large rubber band and put it around the second layer of diapers and repeat. You should have 3 layers of diapers around the bottom of the paper towel roll. You will see the exposed paper towel roll above the diapers. Next, you will make your second tier. You do the same as you did on the bottom. This time you will have two layers and they will sit right on top of the bottom layer. Lastly is your third tier. This has one layer of diapers. Once you have your cake assembled, take a long piece of ribbon and wrap it around each of the tiers covering the rubber bands. Staple the ends together. To cover the staple, make a big bow out of ribbon. Hold the bow up against the staple and taking a smaller ribbon wrap it around the stapled ribbon and bow and tie it tightly to hold the bow in place.

Now you can start decorating your cake. I took small pieces of ribbon and tied rattles and toys to the diapers. Some things like lotions and baby wash got stuck in between the large rubber band and diaper. You can add lots of gifts to this cake. I rolled up baby washcloths and put them in place of some of the diapers. Other things to add are little gift sets of onesies or little outfits, hair clips, foot rattles, secrity blankets, booties, pacifiers, little brush and comb sets. On the top, I added a musical stuffed animal. To secure the stuffed animal, I took a dowel and put it between the large rubber band and paper towel holder. I tied a big bow around the stuffed animal and the dowel to secure.

This cake is so simple that even a seven year old can make one. Here is Lexi's cake that she made. She made hers using two layers. For her center, she used a baby bottle. On the top, she placed a large plastic cat that plays music and rolls around on the floor. To attach, she took a large piece of ribbon and wrapped it around the bottom of the cake and over the cat and tied a big bow. Her cake is wrapped in tule and secured with a rubber band and ribbon.

A Birthday card for Lexi

Tomorrow, my little granddaughter Lexi will be seven years old. Where has the time gone? I remember when her mother was that age and it seemed like yesterday. Lexi loves kitties and because of that I made her a card with a kitty. I even let her look at the Digi images at Pink Cat studio and pick out her favorites. She was leaning heavily towards this one and I liked it too, so I ordered it. I also ordered the other ones she liked so that she could color them. I love Digi images because you can have them instantly and they are less expensive. I didn't even have to color this image, it came that way. I was given the option of plain or colored when I ordered. I wasn't sure what they meant by that, so I ordered colored. Well, that's what they meant. Lol. To give it a special touch and make it "mine," I printed a second image and cut out the wagon, balloon, hats and flowers and gave them a 3d look. I used buttons for the balloons. And, proudly, I say this is the cutest card I have ever made.

Silver Fairy

Traveling Angels

This morning in church, our friends Nancy and Bruce were visiting from the Mid-West. Nancy reminded me that when they were here last February we were talking about ski accidents. How ironic it was that I was in a ski accident a few weeks later. I shared a story with Nancy about my accident, that I haven't told too many people, because I didn't think they would understand. When I broke my leg that day, I was alone on the hill, as Bill had skiied on ahead. I screamed for help and two people showed up, who happened to be ICU Nurses, who were skiing that day. When they told me that they were ICU nurses, I knew that God had sent them to me and I wondered if they were angels in human form. I later learned what at a blessing it was that they showed up. They had made a comment that I couldn't be moved. I later learned the reason why I couldn't be moved...the broken jagged bones in my leg could have sliced the major artery running along side, thus ending my life. What a blessing it was that Bill had skiied ahead of me...he may have moved me out of the way... While in the hospital, I couldn't stop thinking about the nurses who helped me on the hill. I kept asking God if they were angels. Did he intervene to prevent something bad from happening, like paralyisis or death. I couldn't stop thinking about it and have thanked him for allowing my leg to break instead. This little story has played over again and again in my head.

Traveling Angels

Two traveling angels stopped to spend the night in the home of a wealthy family.
The family was rude and refused to let the angels stay in the mansion’s guest room.
Instead, the angels were given a small space in the cold basement.
As they made their bed on the hard floor, the older angel saw a hole in the wall and repaired it.
When the younger angel asked why, the older angel replied, “Things aren’t always what they seem.”
The next night, the pair came to rest at the house of a very poor, but very hospitable farmer and his wife.
After sharing what little food they had, the couple let the angels sleep in their bed where they could have a good night’s rest.
When the sun came up the next morning, the angels found the farmer and his wife in tears.
Their only cow, whose milk had been their sole source of income, lay dead in the field.
The younger angel was infuriated and asked the older angel,
“How could you have let this happen? The first man had everything, yet you helped him!” She accused, “The second family had little, but was willing to share everything…and you let the cow die!”
“Things aren’t always what they seem,” the older angel replied.
“When I stayed in the basement of that mansion, I noticed there was gold stored in that hole in the wall. Since the owner was so obsessed with greed and was unwilling to share his good fortune, I sealed the wall so he wouldn’t find it.
Then last night, as we slept in the farmer’s bed, the angel of death came for his wife. I gave him the cow instead. Like I said, things aren’t always what they seem.”

I am enjoying this beautiful Fall day here in California. The weather is pleasantly warm but has that crisp feel to it. Even though I am wearing shorts and a tee shirt, I am reminded of the time that I went to visit my sister-in-law in Massachusetts. It had always been one of my dreams to visit the New England states and see the Fall foliage. What a gorgeous treat it was for me. The weather was much cooler, but we bundled up warm and drove from state to state to see the spectacular show of colors. My little Marci from LaLa Land stamps is dressed in her warm coat and hat while she enjoys the Fall show. I added gold Stickles to her buttons and hat to tie in with the glittery leaves. The paper is Dreamin' from Close to my Heart.

I was inspired by Irina's post over at Everything Paper Crafts. She mentioned about not having time to make Halloween cards and wanting to, but the time passes by. I have the same problem. For some reason, I love to collect Halloween stamps and paper, but don't end up using them. What's with that? As a start, I cased this card from Irina and changed it up a bit. Irina is the designer of this stamp from La La Land Crafts. The paper is from Basic Grey and the fence is cut from the Cricut Cartridge "Happy Hauntings." the bats are from a Martha Stewart punch. I am going to send this card to my darling niece Emma for Halloween.

I received a CD in the mail today from CTMH and it had pictures from convention on it. Here I am in a bright purple boa. LOL. We were in the "Purple Group." No doubt there. We had so much fun, but next year I intend to be free of crutches and totally get into it.

First Day of School Layout

The cover of the Fall/Winter idea book from CTMH has a layout that I fell in love with the moment I saw it. I chose this layout but added my own touches to it. The paper used is called Typset and is my favorite pack in the catalog. I love the rich cocoa color with juniper and creme brûlée. The banner was cut using the new Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge from CTMH.

Reason, Season and Lifetime

Some people come into your life for a season a reason or a lifetime; and I have made this card for a very special person who has come into my life for a Reason and has been a godsend. She is moving on in life and I wanted to make this special card for her as a going away present. On the inside, I wrote out the portion of the poem that says: Some people come into your life for a Reason, a Season, or a lifetime. When someone is in your life for a Reaon, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed outwardly or inwardly. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, or to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally, or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend to you, and they are. They are there fo the reason you need them to be.
I specifically asked for her in prayer and God heard me. Thank you God.

On my card I added seed packets because she loves to garden and plans to spend time in her garden upon her retirement. The little girl is Marci from La La Land stamps.

Monkey Diaper Cake

I made my first diaper cake for a friend's daughter. Yesterday, I spent a couple of hours on U-tube learning how to make one. I saw the cute little monkey blanket at Target and made that my theme. Attached to the many rolled up diapers are little monkey shoes, monkey blanket and matching receiving blanket, pacifiers, rings toy, lotion, baby wash, shampoo. On the inside are two baby bottles that are used to support the diapers. The cake is sitting on a plastic cake plate and is wrapped in blue tule.

A Tea Party for Ka-tie

Today Jennifer and I took Katie, our dear friend out for a tea party for her birthday. The little tea room called the English Rose was so adorable. It was decorated in pink and green and had all kinds of girly nicknacks to look at. Katie is such a girly girl and she loved it. The little sandwich's and scones were delicious as was the gum drop tea and cinnamon spice tea that we sipped. In the end, the waitress brought Katie a petit four with a candle in it and happy birthday written in icing on the plate. Jennnifer and I gave her a pink Pandora bracelet with pink beads and a silver cupcake. She is a pastry chef at the Ritz Carlton in San Francisco and since it was her birthday, the cupcake was perfect.

Last summer I made these layouts using a paper pack that is now retired called Zippidee. I didn't have any Disney pictures at the time and was able to use them for my recent trip to Disneyland. I had quite a few pictures to fit on to these layouts, so I added 4x6 flip flaps to my layouts and was able to fit 5 pictures in one space. Talk about saving time!

Sneak Peak

This past Saturday I received my new Close to My Heart items that are in the new Fall/Winter Idea Book that comes out on August 1. The box has sat on my table, opened but untouched. At Convention they encouraged us to "consume" our scrapbook supplies and not "collect" them. How many of you can say with me "guilty?" Yep. I knew it. Not wanting to disturb the new papers, embellishments and stamps, I reluctantly took them out of the box and created this layout, that is similar to one in the new book. The paper pack is called "Typeset." Isn't it fun?

One of the things that I noticed about the art work at Convention, is that they like to use 3D Foam tape to pop up the main photo. I did it on my main photo and I love how it gives the layout dimension.
The word Family and the date use the new "Color Ready Cork Alphabet." The word photos and the banner use a new stamp set called "Vintage Type." Tucked in the "waxy flax" bow is one of our new "Bling Assortment" pretty pins. Don't you love it?

CAT DIARY

Day 983 of my captivity. My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets.

Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength. The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet. Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a 'good little hunter' I am.

There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of 'allergies.' I must learn what this means, and how to use it to my advantage.

This morning I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow-- but at the top of the stairs.

I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released - and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded. The bird has got to be an informant. I observe him communicate with the guards regularly . I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe. For now...

I just got back from an exciting week at Close To My Heart's Annual Convention in Disneyland. The theme was "When You Wish, and my wish came true. I wanted so badly to go, but wasn't sure if I would be able to make the trip with my broken leg. But I got to go and had so much fun. There was so much energy in the room from all the Consultants who were anticipating the unveiling of the Fall/Winter Idea Book and new products. Not only did we get to see all the new products and artwork, but we got to play with them as well.

I am really loving these background nature stamps. I have such a hard time resisting them no matter how similar they are to what I already have. Today, I went by Joann's and passed by the stamps. With just a quick glance, I spotted this one immediately. Even though I have three that are almost identical to it, it called my name...loudly. I can't find the name on the block, but it is by Inkadinkadoo. The paper is retired from CTMH and the flowers from a punch-out pas by K&Company.

I was so excited when I saw this little picket fence in the store along with Marci because Irina, from La-La Land, has a project on her blog, Everything Paper Crafts, using the fence. I am so happy with the way it turned out.

Timely Bird

This past weekend a good friend of mine took me to a class at an out of the way scrapbook store. It was so much fun to get out and play with mixed media and learn how to "Junque." After the class, I spent some time shopping and came across this stamp called "Timely Bird" from Hero Arts. I wasn't sure what I was going to do with it, but once I got home I started playing and came up with this card. I stamped the image in Barn Red ink and went over the bird with a blending pen. For the flower, I used Sunflower and Sorbet ink. And for the leaves I used Topiary ink. Both were done with a blending pen as well. After my image was colored, I took some Perfect Pearls Mist and went over it with a light spray and gave some shimmer to it. Then I took some Stickles and gave the flower center a little sparkle. The paper is from Bo Bunny "The Gabrielle Collection" and K&Company "Julianne." The ink is from CTMH and the flowers are from Recollections. Thanks for looking and have a great day.

What's a person to do who is layed up with a broken leg??? If that person is me, it would be to surf the internet for new crafting ideas and online shopping. Who says you can't spend money when you are stuck at home. lol. While stumbling across blogs, I came across this adorable new "Peekers" Collection and just had to have them. They came yesterday. I got out my ink and blending pen and painted "Day Dreaming Peeker." Isn't she just to cute?I gave her tutu and ballet slippers a little sparkle with Stickels. What little girl doesn't like sparkles? The paper is from CTMH.

I have been waiting patiently for them to arrive. So, when I saw them in the mail, I couldn't wait to try them out. I mixed some of the new colors with exhisting shades on Tilda. Easter Layouts with Miracle

I used the beautiful Miracle paper pack with the stamp set Sensational Season. The bunnies were colored with ink and a blending pen. I love the soft watercolor effect of this method.

I am finally off of my pain meds and can spend a few hours in my craft room. If feels so good to start feeling normal again. I think my name should be Rip Van Winkle, because I slept the month away. Lol. For this card I used the March Stamp of The Month, called Sensational, from Close to My Heart. I paper pieced Mrs. Rabbit's dress and made the card with the Sophia Paper Pack. The flowers were made with the Sophia stamp set. The little picket fence is made from a Martha Stewart punch and the sketch is from last week's Mojo Monday Sketch. Mrs. Rabbit is watercolored using a blending pen and ink. Time is running out to get this stamp set. After March 31, it will no longer be available. If you are interested, please let me know, and I can get you one.

Happy St. Patricks Day everyone. Hope you have a blessed day! For my card I used Mo Manning's Little Irish Dancer Digi Stamp. While I am laid up, these little Digi Stamps have come in handy. There is no stamping involved. All that I have to do is download them and print. I have a table set up next to my home hospital bed and on it I have my copic markers. So, I lay in bed and spend my time coloring images.

My Ski Accident

To all of my blog friends, I just wanted to let you know where I have been. A couple of weeks ago, my family and I went up to Lake Tahoe for a ski vacation. There was new fallen snow and Lexi was so excited to go to ski school.

On Monday, February 28, which is also our anniversary, we went up to our favorite ski resort, Sierra at Tahoe. We got Lexi in ski school and Jennifer and Ryan took a class. Bill and I went off on our own to ski.

The snow conditions were perfect and there weren't many people out skiing on a Monday. At around 11:00 we skied down to the children's area to watch Lexi ski. While down at the bottom, I called Ryan. He and Jennifer were having lunch at the lodge. I was anxious to meet up with them and hear about their class. The easiest way to get down to the lodge was to go back up the lift and ski down.

When we got off the lift, Bill asked me if I would be okay going down a certain run. It would be fine. I had been skiing steep runs that day and there was no one on that freshly groomed white hill but me. I had it all to myself. I am a careful skier, ski at an even pace and stay in control. But, I was anxious to see Jennifer and I wanted to get down fast, so I picked up my speed, stumbled and lost my balance. I knew that I was going to fall, that I would have the wind knocked out of me, get up, put my skis back on and continue skiing. But, this time when I fell, the binding on my left ski didn't release and the ski stayed on. I flipped over and over again, about 5 to 6 times and was wondering when I was going to stop. When I finally came to a stop, my upper leg flopped over to the side and I knew it was broken.

Bill had skied on ahead of me and didn't know that I was injured. I was all alone in excruciating pain and fear. I knew that I had to scream for help and hoped that someone would hear me. Fortunately, someone did hear my cry. Two people showed up to help me and they happened to be ICU nurses, a man and a woman. What are the chances of that on that quiet day? They knew to not move me and were very comforting. The woman was able to reach into my jacket and get my phone. She called Bill and told him to get the Ski Patrol.

When the ski patrol arrived, my head was facing down hill and they had to turn me around. My leg hurt so bad to be moved. They asked me if anything else hurt, my head, my back but I told them that nothing else had hit the ground.The lady nurse was so comforting and was able to speak for me when the paramedics were hurting me. Holding my head she told me that my leg had to be put into traction and that it was going to hurt. She told me to go to my happy place and scream if I had to. At that moment I let out the loudest scream ever. The paramedics had placed a metal bar up against my leg, turned a crank and pulled my bones apart. It was torture and all I could do was scream. It hurt so bad. They had to do this because of the jagged overlapping bones that could do damage to the major artery in my leg. Next they slid a board under me and put me on a sled. The ski patrol skied down hill while pulling me behind. He had to go down the steep hill, and fast.

When I got to the bottom, Bill, Jennifer and Ryan were waiting for me in the medical center. An x-ray was taken and then I was put me into a waiting ambulance. On the way to the hospital they gave me Morphine to ease the pain. I was taken to Barton Memorial Hospital, which is the best Orthopedic Hospital in the country and where Olympic athletes go.

When I arrived in the OR, I still had on my ski boot and asked them to remove it when I was put out. I was concerned about the pain that I would feel when they pulled that tight boot off. But, amazingly, they slid it off like butter. I guess they are quite experienced at this. And, then they took me in for surgery.

The break in my femur was a lot worse than they thought. It was broken in two pieces and the piece in the middle had broken off and wedged in sideways. They had to open up my leg on the side and reposition the bone. Then they went through the knee and put a rod in the bone. The rod is held in place by two screws in the knee and one at the top of my bone. I have 31 staples on the outside of my leg, upper leg and knee. I had lost so much blood from the broken bone, that I was severely anemic and my blood pressure had dropped to 60/30. Fortunately, I was able to avoid a blood transfusion.

While I was in the hospital, I couldn't stop thinking about God's hand in all of this. I wondered about the the two people he had sent to me. Were they angels in human form? And, was something so much worse suppose to happen, like paralysis but instead He took my leg? Why didn't anything else hit the ground. Why didn't the ski come off with all of that tumbling? Is it a miracle that Bill had skied on ahead of me instead of staying with me and possibly moving me? If he had, I might have died if the broken bones had sliced open the artery. I couldn't stop praising God in the hospital for breaking my leg.

I had the best care and was there for five days and have had to learn to walk with a walker.

I am at home recovering. We have a hospital bed downstairs in the family room and the bathroom is about 10 feet away from me. The sad thing for me, is that making it to the bathroom and back is about the only thing that I can do. And, it is very exhausting. This is my reality for now and I have to accept it and realize that it is not always going to be this way.

Lexi's Valentine Pops

Lexi and I had fun today making her Valentines. She had the bright idea of punching out a heart, cutting around the inside and popping out a little nose.
We attached the face to the pop with a glue dot.

On the back side, we punched another heart and using a stamp with her name on it, embossed with white daisy pigment ink and embossing powder.And, finally we have 24 Valentines made.

This morning while going through my favorite blogs, I noticed a common theme....lots of Valentines. That put me in the mood to break out my new Close to My Heart paper pack called "Sweetheart" and pair it with this adorable image of "Sweetheart Marci" from La la Land Crafts. A few days ago, Lexi and I had fun making these cute little rosettes using the My Favorite Things "Mini Rolled Roses" die cut. They were so easy to make. The hearts were cut with Nestabillities. And, Marci is colored with Copic Markers.
As usual, my "Mini-Me" Lexi had to follow me into the craft room and make herself a card too. She put a little kiss on Marci's face and cut out the hearts and popped them up with Pop Dots.

I love this paper with the peacock on it and was saving it for something special. This picture of Lexi with her violin is so precious to me and perfect for this layout. I used blue and green sparkles on the feathers and Mocha Opaque pearls around the bird. All supplies are from Close to My Heart.

I am highlighting a new paper pack called Mayberry. My layout uses the Workshop on the Go for this paper pack.

Just look at this beautiful paper. I am also showing some of the yummy ribbon and buttons that are in this catalog.This is the stamp set that comes with the paper pack.Take a look at the scallop at the top of my layout. To make this scallop, I stamped the pear several times. Then I took a 1 1/4 inch punch and punched circles out of the pear image. I then cut them in half and they made the scallop. Creative huh? I learned to do that from this workshop. Keep checking back to see the new posts that keep being added.

Last weekend I took a class with Irina from Everything Papercrafts. We had so much fun and made so many projects that I didn't have a chance to finish the cards that I started. Since, I am having a Super Day, I thought this would be a fun card to make. I hope you are having a Super Day too!!!

The Scrappin' Ladies Layout

One of the things that bring great joy to my life is my CTMH Business. Through CTMH I have made such wonderful friendships and love having them over for my monthly Scrapbook Workshops. We always have so much fun together and the group keeps growing. This layout uses the new "Wings" paper pack and a couple of new stamps sets that will be available in the new catalog that comes out in February. They are "Dreams Come True" and "Take a Picture". I have also used some of the new embelishments. Notice the pleated ribbon and black courdoroy buttons, brads and black ribbon.

For my workshop this month we will make these layouts that I learned how to make at Convention this pas summer. We will be using the "Magnifique" paper pack and "Flip Flaps."
These layouts are interactive, as they open to show more photos. This picture shows the layout closed.

When you open the flip flaps, this is what it looks like on the inside.This is the second layout that we will make. Here it is closed.And, then open. I love that it can hold so many photos. I was able to scrapbook most of my vacation photos in these two layouts.This is the paper that comes in the "Magnifique" paper pack. I have got to come up with something really special for the peacock page.

I had fun with this layout of Lexi decorating the tree and my favorite ornaments. The Cricut cartridges used are Plantin SchoolBook and Winter Frolic. I love my Cricut and wish that I used it more. The little figures just add so much to a layout.

With all the hustle and bustle of the holidays and my job, I have been in desperate need for some creative time. So when I got home from work today, I printed up these photos and got into my "happy zone." Fortunately, I had the Santa already colored. He was suppose to go on one of the Christmas cards that I didn't finish making. He is from the set "Share the Magic." The list and Santa letter are from "Santa's List." The paper is "Misletoe." Thanksgiving Layouts

Hi Everyone, I hope you had a blessed Thanksgiving. This is one of my favorite holiday's. I love visiting with my family and watching the kids, all excited, playing with their cousins. And, as usual I love how the CTMH papers and layouts always go so well with my photos. These layouts were done at my November scrapbook workshop using the Olivia paper pack. The top one uses the "Levitate sketch" from Magic and the bottom uses the "Role Play" sketch from Imagine. The nice thing about having them done ahead of time is that all I have to do is add the pictures. Sketches used to frustrate me because they didn't always fit my pictures. Once I learned that sketches are a guide for you to start with, I was able to manipulate my pictures to fit. For instance on the bottom layout, the left page used a 6 x 6 picture on top and two 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 pictures on the bottom. As you can see from my photos, the pictures on the bottom would not work at the 3 1/2 inch size. Instead of using those sizes, I used a 5 x 7 on top and 3 1/2 x 5 photos on the bottom. So there ends my frustration. It works.

A Couple of Thanksgiving Cards

This has been such a busy month for me with Christmas Card Workshops, Scrapbook Workshops and working full time, but I managed to find some time for myself to make a couple of Thanksgiving Cards. Both cards are made using the beautiful "Olivia" paper. The card on the left uses the stamp set "Harvest Home" and the one on the right uses "Thanksgiving." Both cards are watercolored using CTMH inks and and a blending pen. I love to add sparkle to my cards and both of my cards have Prisma Glitter and Shimmer Designer Brads. All supplies are from Close to My Heart.

I came home from work last night to this adorable Thanksgiving Tree that Lexi made. If you click on the picture, you can see what Lexi is thankful for. Her mother used a maple leaf cookie cutter as a stencil for the leaves and Lexi cut them out.

I had so much fun this past summer at Convention in Washington DC and can't wait until next Summer for the next one! The paper that I chose for my layout is called "You Rock" from CTMH. When I first saw this paper pack, I did not like it and set it aside. But, I love how well it goes with my Convention photos. The layout that I used is appropriately called "On with the Show" from "Magic."

Halloween Layout

I am giving a party for a new customer and she asked me to do a Halloween layout using glitter. I was inspired by a layout that was done by a fellow CTMH consultant, I wish that I remember her name, on the CTMH boards using "Raise the Curtain" from the Magic layout book. I did a modified version of hers by turning the first page upside down and putting the title on black. I used bulk Hooligans paper, and Black and Gypsy cardstock. The little monsters have Prisma Glitter on them and the title is stamped with the "Cocktail Alphabet" set.

My little dog Jesse posed so nicely for these photos that I needed to complete my layouts. He was a little humiliated at being dressed up as a "hot dog," but, he went along with it. This is one of the sets of layouts that we will be making at my "Hooligans" Workshop next week.

I had so much fun making these cards using the new Mistletoe Paper Pack and the October Stamp of the Month, Share The Magic. The colors are Cranberry, New England Ivy and Cocoa. Happy Birthday Bill!!! And a Riley card

October is the month for birthdays in our house. Today it was Bill's special day. Jennifer made him a delicious chicken and vegetable dinner. And, Ryan brought over some delicious cannoli's from a bakery in San Francisco.

When I got home from work, Lexi and I went to work making birthday cards. Every year, I get Bill a season pass to his favorite ski resort for his birthday. This Riley stamp came in handy for his card. I used CTMH's Aspen paper for the background. For the snow, I tore pieces of White Daisy cardstock and added Liquid Glass and glitter.

Just like the little girl in this card, Lexi can't help but carry her cat like this. When I saw this Digi Stamp from Mo's Digital Pencil, it reminded me so much of her. She had fun making this card for her Poppa and wrote Happy Birthday "Popp-sicle" on the inside. She colored her image with Copic Markers and even cut out the little tag free handed.

A Day at the Pumpkin Patch

Yesterday Jennifer, Lexi and I had a wonderful day together. We went out to the pumpkin patch. There were so many fun activities going on. They had hay rides, face painting, arts and crafts, a country ho down and much more. We bought these silly masks and had fun playing with them. We went on a hay ride out to the pumpking patch where we passed by lots of cornfields and beautiful sunflowers. Standing next to the flowers is my daughter Jennifer.
Lexi had fun going through all the pumpkins and searching for the perfect one.
And, this is the one that she chose.Lexi had fun playing on the big pumpkins.

A Gorgeous Cased Card

Don't you just love a quiet Saturday morning when everyone is asleep, and the house is so peaceful that you can get into a happy, creative mode? That's how my morning is. I started this morning with my coffee, some delicious smelling candles, Facebook and my Favorite Blogs. I was so inspired by this gorgeous card on Aaron's blog that I had to re-create and share it with you. I didn't have the exact tag that she used, so I used the one from the "Party Pennants" stamp set. The leaves are made from a former stamp of the month called "Something Splendid." To make the paper flowers, I punched 4 different sizes of circles out of Tulip, Creme Brulee and Juniper cardstock and distressed the edges. I have an edge distresser, but found it easier to use the inside edge of my small scissors. I then sponged the edges with Desert Sand ink and scrunched them inward. They are held together with Glue Dots. The dots on the inside flowers are Mocha Opaques Adhesive Gems. The patterned paper is from the Jingle paper pack. Yesterday was my son's 25th birthday. We took him out to dinner and then to Fenton's for dessert. I made this silly card for him using the "Spook Alley" stamp set from CTMH and the "Hooligans" paper. I knew he would like it.Here is a picture of him on his first birthday. He loved that pacifier. I had a hard time finding a picture without one in his mouth. That is me at 25!!!Here he is all grown up 25 years later with me. Here he is with his dad.

Hooligans Workshop

These are the layouts that we will be making at my upcoming "Hooligans" Workshop. I love the fun colors in this paper. For this first layout, I was inspired by a layout that Karen Pedersen made. I changed it up a bit to fit my workshop. When I went to convention this past summer, one of the talented consultants who was teaching a class made a layout similiar to this one. Her's was much more complicated. Mine is a bit simpler.

Sumpin's Wrong

I am going to a baby shower today for a woman in my church who just gave birth to an adorable baby boy. I made this card for her using a digital image from "mo's digital pencil." Surprisingly, I went online to the website this morning and was able to purchase the image and it was ready for me to download in a matter of minutes. The image is called "Sumpin's Wrong."
Since, I am one of the people giving the party, I have to finish getting the games ready. Have a great day!

Lexi's American Girl Doll Layout

A friend of mine gave Lexi some American Girl Doll stickers. One of the stickers is of her doll "Molly." This doll used to be Lexi's mother's doll, 20 years ago!!! When I came home from work today, I saw that Lexi had made a layout using the stickers.She asked me if I would take some pictures of her and her doll for the layout. First, I had to braid Molly's hair and put some ribbons in it. Then we were ready for pictures.Here she is with her layout. It is such a good feeling to have a granddaughter who loves scrapbooking as much as I do.

One of the things that I like to photograph is detail. I took these pictures of Lexi on the first day of school. I want to remember how little her feet were, what she wore and how excited she was to start kindergarten. Like her mother, I know her childhood will go fast and I want to capture and hold on to as much of it as I can.

This Enchanted Moment

I made this layout of Lexi having her first pedicure/manicure. I titled it "This Enchanted Moment," becaue that is what it was for her. The paper that I used is "Daydream" from CTMH.

I added little sparkles to the patterned paper, to give it a little bling.

On Friday evening I had a group of ladies over for a crop night. We had so much fun. I knew that I wouldn't get much done that night, so I made my layout earlier in the day. I am calling my group "All the scrappin' ladies." When I went to the CTMH Convention, a group performed a dance to a song by Beyonce, and they gave it this title.

Yesterday, I had some friends over to scrapbook and this is the layout that I made. Pennants are all the rage in scrapbooking and I have been wanting to do a layout using the new "Party Pennant" stamp set by Close to My Heart. I was going through the October issue of Scrapbooks Etc. and came across this layout. It gave me the inspiration for my layout.

I used CTMH's new inks "Pacifica, Pear, Cotton Candy and Gypsy" to make my pennant. And, the paper is "Passages."

Mojo Monday

What a great day this has been. It was so nice having an extra day off of work. Today, we took Lexi to our gym and let her play in the pool with her friends and enjoyed a BBQ. Then I spent the rest of the afternoon cleaning up the hard disk on my computer. This is something that really needed to be done and I am so proud that I was able to do it. As a reward to myself, I participated in today's Mojo Monday Sketch. I had already had this image colored in, so all that I had to do was assemble the card. I never thought of doing things this way. Usually, I do the whole card at the same time. When this stamp set came in the mail, I couldn't wait to play with it. It has encouraged me to color my images ahead of time and use them when a sketch comes up. The stamp that I used is called "Theme Park" and the paper is "Zippidee". Both are from Close to My Heart. I hope you are having a wonderful day too!!!

To commemorate her birthday, actress/vocalist, Julie Andrews made a special appearance at Manhattan 's Radio City Music Hall for the benefit of the AARP. One of the musical numbers she performed was 'My Favorite Things' from the legendary movie 'Sound Of Music'. Here are the lyrics she used:

Autumn/Winter 2010 New Product Blog Hop

I have made these Treat Covers using the new "Hooligans Paper Pack" from Close to My Heart. These would be perfect for your Halloween Treats. They are shaped like a tent, with the sides open and they hold a small bag of candy. The card on the left uses the new "Hooligans Level 2 Assortment" of adhesive-backed felt monters. The middle card uses the "Hooligans Level 2 My Stickease" assortment. And the card on the right uses the new "Party Animal" Stamp set.

If you would like directions for making these treat bags, I have directions listed below. Otherwise, head on over to Jessica's Blog and see what she has in store for you.

To watercolor the monster on the card on the right, I used a blending pen and "puddle pad". To make a puddle pad, give the closed ink pad a little squeeze. A small amount of ink will stick to the top. Add a couple of drops of water to the ink. I like to do this so that the color won't come out so strong. The colors that I used are "Pear"and "Sunset." Using a blending pen, swirl it around in the ink and gently color your image. Remember to keep the lid on your blending pen when you are not using it or it will dry out and make it difficult for you to color. The pen will want to drag and leave streaks. It shouldn't do this. If it does, try adding a little more water. If this doesn't work, it's time to get a new pen. To make the card, cut a piece of cardstock 3 3/4 x 10 1/2. Then score it at 4, 4 1/2, 5 and 9.

Fold all score marks. Fold the 4 1/2 score mark in the opposite direction.

Your folded card should look like this. Once you have the folds made, attach a 1 1/4" x 3 3/8", piece of B&T paper to the top flap. Attach a 3" x 3 3/4" piece of B&T paper to the front. Close top flap and using a small punch, punch two holes in the flap and threat ribbon through and tie in a bow. Finally, insert a small bag of Halloween candy like M&M's, Skittles or any of your favorites. To keep the bag inside, try using a glue dot or a small amount of adhesive.

Lexi's First Day of Kindergarten

I couldn't wait to scrapbook the pictures of Lexi's first day of Kindergarten. In the early evening when I got home from work, I sat outside and scrapbooked these photos. I went through my stash of papers and used these retired pieces. The polka-dot paper is from Route 66 and the stickers, I think the name is School Zone. I don't know about you, but I am getting quite a collection of paper and have no room for new ones!!! So, I am going to try and go through them and use them up.

She is moving on to Kindergarten

My little sweetheart started Kindergarten today. She was so excited and so ready. The teacher let the parents (and grandparents) spend some time in the classroom this morning. It was so nice being there. Lexi is going to love it.

This past weekend I finally got around to scrapbooking her pre-school graduation pictures. Just in time to do the first day of school layouts!!!

The paper used is Zippidee and the stickers are from Me and My Big Idea.

While these paper lend themselves perfectly to your Disneyland pictures, I wanted to show their versatility by using non-Disney photos. In this first layout, the "Happy Times" title and ticket stub, from the Zippidee Workshop-on-the-go, work well with these pictures of Lexi having fun and winning a stuffed animal at the Dart game.
This layout uses pictures of Lexi celebrating the fourth of July. The colors work well with the Patriotic Theme. Both of these layouts are featured in the Zippidee Workshop-on-the-go.

Mojo Monday

It seems that I have been so busy that my Mojo has escaped. I used to be so good at doing the Monday sketches and I am missing them. So, when I came home from work last night I was determined to do the sketch. This card uses an image from Pink Cat Studios and the paper is from Basic Grey.

I received this cute little Hedgehog Stamp set called "Happy Forever" a couple of weeks ago and couldn't wait to have a free day to ink him up. I have wanted this set since it was first introduced, as the July Stamp of the Month, in the Summer catalog. I had to wait until I had a full size order in July to get him for free. And, he was worth the wait!!!

For my card I used this weeks Mojo Monday Sketch combined with Jeanette Lynton's Color Me Monday. The colors are Cocoa, Bamboo, Juniper and Sorbet. They kind of remind me of neopolitan ice cream. I stamped the little hedgehog onto Bamboo cardstock and sponged his body in Bamboo and fur in Cocoa. I learned a trick from another consultant on how to stamp two different colors. First of all you stamp the image twice. On the second image, cut out the body and place it over the body of the first image. Then sponge the fur lightly in cocoa. Next, remove the cut out body and put the second fur piece over the first and sponge the body lightly in bamboo. When I was done with the sponging, I cut out the little guy and attached him to another stamped image on Colonial White. For the balloons, I stamped them on Sorbet and Juniper cardstock. I cut them out and attached them to the colonial white piece. You don't need to cut out the balloon strings, because they are already stamped on the colonial white piece.

The B&T paper is from the "Unforettable" paper pack and the cardstock used is Cocoa, Juniper, Sorbet and Bamboo.

It's a Zippidee Do Da Day!!!

I am starting the day in a Zippidee Do Da kind of way. I just registered for Convention and am soooo excited. Disneyland here I come!!!! Last night I was playing with the "Thrill Ride" stamp and made this cute card using the "Zippidee" paper pack from Close to my Heart.
