She Likes Layout

I will be teaching a scrapbook workshop for Lexi's Brownie Troop and made this cute layout using the Laughing Lola papers from Close to My Heart. This layout is about what "She Likes."  I will have all the papers cut and the girls will do the assembly. The pieces of patterned paper are cut down to 11 inches and are attached to a 12x12 piece of black cardstock to form a border and give a nice contrast to the paper.  I needed to keep the cost down since I will be donating the supplies, so I chose inexpensive embellishments. Sequins are becoming popular in scrapbooking, so I bought a few packs at Joann's as well as a couple of packs of the little paperclip embellishments at 50% off. I will stamp the title and have the girls fill in the little strips of paper telling what they like. I am going to let Lexi help me teach the class and she is so excited about that.

A Day with Uncle Ryan Layout

I am taking a class from Stacy Julian and Jennifer Wilson at Big Picture Classes called The Art + Science of Scrapbooking. My first assignment was to go through my pictures and rate them and choose a photo to tell a story about. I have been wanting to scrapbook this picture and tell the story, but just haven't done it. Lexi and Brooke love their Uncle Ryan and it's obvious that he loves them too. One day they went on a walk and Lexi found this field of clovers and threw herself into them and, of course, Brooke joined in. The paper that I chose is called Neapolitan from American Crafts.

Assemble the Minions - Banner

Do you ever feel like you are a minion at your place of work? I most certainly am beginning to feel like one. And, the thought of minions running around the department that I work in sparked my creativity to make this Minion Banner. I found an SVG file at http://www.grealishgreetings.com/assemble-the-minions/ and went to work creating my banner. The minion file is for a card and has a back to it. Since I wasn't making a card, I used the back piece to attach my bakers twine. I used Zip Dry glue and then attached the front piece on top.

Lori William Barcelona

.

After a very long day of travel, Bill and I arrived in Barcelona to spend a few days before we leave on a Mediterranean Cruise. I have always wanted to see Spain, because I am part Spanish as well as Irish and Norwegian. On the plane ride over, I happened to sit next to two handsome guys, one was from Spain and the other Norway. It was interesting talking to them and learning about the different cultures. When my son visited Europe, people thought he was from Spain.  I had to see for myself what a true Spanish person looked like and surprisingly, he looks a lot like the young handsome guys here.

We had a great day of sightseeing, rode a tram over to the beach and did some people watching as well as walking down the narrow alleys and looking at the adorable homes. I love architecture and had fun taking pictures.

At 9:00 we ate Paella for dinner at a restaurant called Elche. We were able to get it without shells, which made it so much more enjoyable to eat. After a wonderful dinner and a bottle of wine. We strolled by the night clubs, where the evening was just beginning for the young people. Then, we hailed a cab which took us back to the Hotel Miramar. Until tomorrow, have a good night. For me it is quite late.

Having fun with Dream Pop

My sister-in-law Vicki was here last month and had fun taking pictures of Brooke. She is such a good photographer. I love how she captured the expressions on Brooke's face.  This fun Dream Pop paper from Close to My Heart went so well with these photos.

Snake and Monkey Diaper Cakes

Today after work, we had a baby shower for my boss Gina. She is having a boy and the room will be done in a jungle theme with snakes and monkeys. I have been on a diaper cake marathon these days and am really enjoying putting them together. Lexi helped make the diaper cake with the snake on it. She rolled a lot of diapers. I wanted to do something different with the monkey cake and searched for ideas on the internet and found instructions to make this motorcyle cake. Both cakes were a hit and it always makes me happy to make someone else happy.
