Photography Assignment 2

Today I brought my camera to work and took pictures using the different Apperature Settings. There is a grove of Cherry Blossom Trees right in front of the building. The picture of Michelle with her hat reminds me of France. I love the softness of these pictures. The thing about Apperature is that it allows you to make the background blurry. There are cars in the parking lot, but you can't see them with with a higher Apperature.

Photography Assignment 1

I am so exictied to say that I am finally enrolled in the Jessica Sprague Online Photography Class. If you remember, I got my camera last summer for my birthday and have wanted to learn to use it. It has taken me months to get into this class, because it fills up fast. Our first assignment was learning about Shutter Speeds and ISO. In this first picture of Lexi jumping, I used a slow shutter speed, 1/60 and an ISO of 800. I took this picture in the early evening and needed more light, that is why I used the higher ISO. With the slower shutter speed, you can see Lexi's face but parts of her are blurred. In this second photo, I used a fast shutter speed 1/640 and ISO of 800. Notice how crisp this picture is. Her hair didn't even have a chance to lay down. With the faster shutter speed, she is frozen in action.

Color Me Monday

With Easter around the corner, I decided to take advantage of Jeanette Lynton's Color Me Monday Challenge and make an Easter Card. The colors in the challenge are Petal, Buttercup, Blush and Colonial White. I combined it with this week's Mojo Monday sketch. The stamp set used is "Bunny Love" from CTMH. The egg shell is on Pop Dots to give a three dimensional look.

Love that little hand waving at me

On Friday mornings, I go into work late and by the time I leave for work, Lexi has already climbed into her mother's bed. When she hears my car pulling out of the gargage, she opens the curtains and waves to me. It really makes my day seeing her wave to me. One time I was running late and missed looking for her. I got a call from her mother saying that Lexi was crying because I didn't wave to her. I felt so bad. I love that little girl so much.
I have been wanting to scrap this memory since I took the picture in December, but have been too busy to do so. While cleaning up my scraproom today, I came across a layout that I assembled using CTMH's Topstitch paper and Stickese. When I saw the layout, I was reminded of the photo and realized how perfect it would be together. Now I can keep my memory for years to come.

27 Years Ago Today....

Twenty-seven years ago today, Jennifer came into this world; my first born daughter and the apple of my eye. Here is a picture of her at her twelve months. And, my has she grown. Where has the time gone? It's hard for me to imagine that I have a daughter who is a grown woman. I made this card for her using the "Love You Forever" stamp set from CTMH. I love this sentiment. No matter how old she is, she will always be my baby.

And, here she is today...the mother of my beautiful Lexi.

Wow. I just finished a delicious Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner. One of my favorites that has been a long time tradition in my family. Bill served it with a "Black and Tan". That is, Guinness Beer served over Pub Ale. Now that dinner is over I will share some layouts with you.

These are the layouts that we will be making at my upcoming scrapbook workshops this month. All three use the Spring Colored Caboodle papers by Close to My Heart. The first layout is a modified version of the Caboodle Workshop on the Go. To cut down on the cost to my customers, I left out the chipboard pieces. The second layout was designed by the very talented, Lisa Stenz. And the third layout was created by using the "Silver Screen" Layout from CTMH's Cherish book.

An Especially Wonderful Day

Last Saturday was an especially wonderful day for me. Not only was it my 28th wedding anniversary, on the 28th, but I got to meet one of my dear blogging friends, Pat. I have always wanted to meet her and she is just as I had imagined, beautiful and kind. What a day that was. Let me explain. Pat and her family were staying in San Francisco and had plans to attend an anniversary that evening. I had arranged to meet her at her hotel later in the afternoon. That morning I had a scrapbook workshop. It lasted until about 1:30. Afterwards, Bill and I got ready and drove into the City. Unfortunately, it was Chinese New Year and there were cars and people everywhere. I texted Pat and she replied back that they had to leave at 3:30. By this time it was already 3:00. We were petrified. I had a miscommunication with her and thought that she was staying at the "W Hotel". We finally got to the hotel and I texted her back letting her know where we were and she replied that they were staying at the "JW". She said that she would meet me at the "Third Floor Lounge." We were not sure where this hotel was. Then Bill figured that it was the Marriott which was right across the street. So, I jumped out of the car at the light and Bill went to park the car. I went inside and ran up to the elevator to push the button to take me to the "Third Floor Lounge". And, guess what? There was no third floor!!! I was frantic and asked the bell hop where it was. He said that there was no third floor lounge. Finally, another guy came over and asked what I was looking for and I shoved my cell phone up to his face so that he could read her message. He replied "Oh. That's the JW." And, then he gave me a map and showed where it was. I asked him if I could walk there. Yes, I could. It was about 10 city blocks away. By this time, it was 3:15 and I was thinking to myself, after all this I might not be able to see her. So, I put myself into gear and ran those 10 city blocks in heels. Finally, all out of breath, I saw it. The hotel shined like gold in my eyes as I saw it in the distance. I got inside and went up to the lounge. And, there before my eyes was the beautiful Pat. She was so happy to see me. I sat down and had a drink with her and then her family came down and we visited until 4:00. Oh, and if you are wondering, Bill did find me and had a drink with us. I hope to visit with Pat again some day for a much longer time. This is one friendship that I will treasure.
Afterwards, Bill and I went and had a wonderful dinner at the Cliff House Restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. This has been a tradition that we started many years ago. Here is a view from the restaurant. Note: to my friends who were at my wedding on June 12. Bill and I eloped on February 28. Some of you know this. Don't let my dad know. He will charge me for the wedding plus interest!!!

Izzy Has Balloons

Today is my sister Chris' birthday. I had made the other two cards for her friends and this time I made one for her. This is "Izzie has balloons" and she is from Stamping Bella. Chris is a big quilter and has made some of the most beautiful quilts that I have ever seen. So, I thought this quilt patterned paper by Basic Grey would be perfect for her. The paper is called "June Bug". I added "liquid glass" to the balloons to give them some dimension and raised the red balloon on a pop dot. Hope she likes it.

Heidi Among the Flowers

This is the second of the two birthday cards that my sister requested. I just love this little Pixie. She is called "Heidi Among the Flowers" and is from C.C Designs Swiss Pixies. I ordered her from All That Scraps. The paper used is from Basic Grey and is called "Lemonade".

I thought that I had lost my Mojo!!!

I apologize for being such a bad blogger. I have become addicted to a Facebook game called Zooworld and it has sucked the life out of me!!!! A few days ago, my sister asked me if I would make a couple of birthday cards for her. I agreed to make them, but when I sat down yesterday to make them, my mojo had escaped me and I struggled. I needed to make a 60th birthday card and was at a loss. Finally, I came up with Georgia Glamourpuss from Stampingbella. The inside of the card reads "If you obey all the rules, you miss all the fun". I hope her friend likes this card.
