Splendor in the Park

This past Sunday our church had a picnic in the park. I had fun going around taking pictures of Lexi and her friends. While taking the pictures, I could visualise a scrapbook page and knew just what paper pack I was going to use. In fact, one of the lady's in my church said to me "It looks like a scrapbook page." Funny how she read my mind. After the picnic was over, I had Bill drop my off at a store where I could print my pictures while he ran some errands. Once I got home, I got out the Splendor paper pack with the matching Stickese and went to work making this layout. It was so fast, because the pictures of the layouts are on the back of the Stickese. To see a picture in color of the layouts, all that I had to do was go to Closetomyheart.com and on the front page is an area called "Ideas and Inspiration." When you click on it you see "make it from your heart gallery" and there are the layouts in full color. Close to my Heart makes scrapbooking Faster, Simpler and Easier.

Party Animal

This little guy is from a new stamp set coming out in fall called "Party Animal." I used Jeanette Lynton's Color Me Monday Challenge to make him. The colors used are Tulip, Juniper, Cocoa and Dessert Sand. On Jeanette's blog she talks about pennants, banners and flags as being the rage. They are. And, every time I see a card with a string of pennants, I get so disappointed because I don't have the stamp to make them. Imagine my surprise when Jeanette suggested cutting out triangles and attaching them with hemp. I had fun making them.

Lexi's new dress

Lexi has been wanting for me to make her a dress. She was so excited to have a "Bacca" that can sew dresses. Yesterday, we headed to the fabric store and picked out fabric to make two dresses. Today, she stood patiently by me as I sewed her dress. It's a little long, but I wanted the black border on the bottom to show. There are two white bows by the straps with Lady Bug Buttons attached.

Splendor Workshop on the Go

These are the layouts that we will be making at my next scrapbook workshop using the Splendor Workshop on the Go. I modified the first layout. The right page used 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 squares. I made mine using 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 squares to fit larger photos. The nice thing about these workshops is that they keep me up-to-date on my scrapbooking.

Gotta love the UPS Man!!!

The UPS man just delivered a BIG box for me that contains all the stuff that I bought at convention. It's like Christmas in July. Since it's not Christmas, or September, I can't share my box of goodies with you. But, I can surely say that you are going to love the new Fall products.

A great time at Convention

I had so much fun at Convention and I hope that those of you who couldn't make it this year will come next time. Not only is it a great opportunity to learn some new techniques and skills to enhance your business, but it is an opportunity to make new friendships and strengthen existing friendships. I was so fortunate to room with Janelle and Elaine. We had so much fun laughing and teasing each other. It was also an opportunity to meet my blogging friends. I was so excited when people came up to introduce themselves to me who are fellow blogger's. We know so much about each other from blogging and this was the icing on the cake to actually meet them. I hope to see Vicki, Jackie, Pat, Sharli, Jeanne, Carolyn, Leslie, Dawn, Kathy and the rest of my blogging friends in Anaheim next Summer.

Happy Birthday to Me

Today, Bill and I took a boat ride on the Potomac to Mt. Vernon. We got to step inside and tour George Washington's mansion. It was beautiful! We were told that he would welcome all visitors and allow them to stay the night if they were clean and sober. Back in those days, I probably would have passed by many times. We had lunch at the Mt. Vernon Inn. It felt so good to get out of the heat and relax with a nice lunch.
I had Rosemary Chicken with Peanut Stuffing. Bill had Fried Chicken. Both were yummy.

For dessert, we shared a bread pudding. It was so good and didn't last long.

I was inside a gift shop keeping cool when Bill asked me to come out and see the gardens. Reluctanly I went out. I am so glad that I did, because there were so many beautiful butterflies. I had so much fun taking pictures that I soon forgot about the heat.

Yesterday was a fun but sad day for me. I left my very favorite camera, the one that I got for my birthday last year and have had so much fun learning on, on the Metro Rail. The train was pulling away when I noticed that I didn't have it. Tears started running down my face when I was told that there was nothing that I could do but fill out a report. I am hoping and praying that a good citizen turned it in. Fortunately, I have my small camera in my purse so that I can still take pictures.

Day 1 at Convention

Today has been a wonderful, but exhausting day. I arrived yesterday in Washington, DC for Close To My Heart's Convention. We are staying at the Gaylord Hotel. I can't believe how big this hotel is. There are 2000 rooms!!!! I was told that this is their smallest hotel. I am trying to find my way around. There are 1200 consultants and so much excitement. I am hoping to run into some of my blogging and Facebook Friends. We started the day with the General Session. We were introduced to some new products and were entertained by Jeanette Lynton and her team. After that we had lunch and then spent the day learning new techniques in each of the eight Extravaganza classes.

And the best part, the entertainment. Jeanette and Monica pretending to watch TV. We watched what they were watching on the big screens. There was CTMH's version of the Brady Bunch.Christine as Mrs. B and Monica as Alice. Then there was "Desperate Scrappers."
And, best of all, Jeanette as the "Apprentice."

Lastly, we had the CTMH girls dancing to Beyonce's "All the Single Ladies", CTMH style "All the Scrapping Ladies." "If you like it, put some bling on it.

Happy 4th of July

Lexi woke up today and told me that this is the best day ever and reminded me that it is the 4th of July. Little does she know, but she is so right about this being the best day ever. Thank you to all the men and women who have fought and continue to fight for the freedom that we have in this country.

Last Day in Paradise

Today is our last day on the beautiful island of Maui. This has been a very relaxing vacation and I am sad to see it end. But, I do miss home, my daughter and my little Lexi. This morning we went on a snorkel/sail trip. We saw some beautiful fish and a couple of sea turtles. I bought an underwater camera. I am not too sure how well my pictures will turn out. But, I had fun snapping pictures anyway. I can't wait to see Lexi and give her the new Ukulele that I bought for her. Last year in Kauai we bought her one and she loved it so much, but it broke and we couldn't find another one in California. Her request was for us to bring another one back. This is a picture of a sea turtutle above the water. Here is a picture of Bill, Ryan and Katie snorkeling. I didn't get a frontal view, because it is not too pretty of a picture. lol.

This evening, we into Lahaina and had dinner at one of our favorite restaurants, Kobe. Our chef was very entertaining and the food was delicious. On the way, we passed by the famous Banyan Tree. I am always amazed that this is just one tree every time I see it.
