Day 3 in Paradise

Aloha. This morning we drove over to the Hyatt Regency on the South side of the Island. This is the "dry" side and is where Poipu Beach is. Here are some pictues that we took from the hotel terrace. We stayed at this hotel about 10 years ago. It is gorgeous.

Here we are enjoying a continental breakfast of scones, pastries, bagels and coffee. Bill is taking the picture otherwise he would be sitting in the empty chair.

The island is filled with birds. Here is a picture of some friendly little birds eagerly awaiting our leftovers. Lexi had fun sharing her scone. The little birds flew up to her hand to get a piece.

Here are some of the Macaws in the atrium lobby.

After scones and coffee we went to a lei making class. Lexi had fun stringing the orchids.

Here is a picture of mother and daughter with matching leis.

After the lei making class, they had a bird show. It was fun holding these big birds. They are not as inimidating as they look, however, I was told not to put my face close to theirs or I may lose my nose. lol.

After the show, we headed over to "Joe's on the Green" for Banana Macadamia Nut Pancakes with Coconut Syrup. This restaurant is on the golf course near the Hyatt.

Afterwards, we did a little shopping and bought some inexpensive trinkets for Lexi at the Wailers General Store. She loved the $10 Ukulele and has had fun making up songs while struming it. After shopping we headed back to the hotel and spent the day at the childrens pool. We were able to get some reading in while Lexi played with a couple of kids in the shallow pool. Lexi is on the left of this picture playing with a new friend. And, here I am relaxing. It takes about 3 days to get really relaxed. The first day is spent traveling. The second day, getting accustomed to your new surroundings. And, the third day you are enjoying the peace and tranquility of this island paradise. We had an early casual dinner at the Barefoot Restaurant at Dukes on the grounds of our hotel. I had fish and chips with a Dukes Mai Tai. The difference between it and a regular Mai Tai is that they add Vanilla Cream and blend it like a Pina Coloda. It was yummy. We ate dinner the first night at Dukes upstairs restaurant. They have a more extensive menu. I had a fish called "Mong Chong" that was coated in Macadamia nuts and served with Mashed Potatoes. Here is a picture of it.

Add ImageAnd with this, I will say Aloha!

You're doing a great job with your new camera! You could really see the details in the birds, as well as in the nuts on the pancakes! LOL I MISS YOU, but I am glad you're relaxing and having fun! And I have yet to see a single photo of you coloring. :)
